Simple Present Tense

Action which are done often， usually， sometimes， or everyday.

He She It	Add ‘s’, ‘es’ and ‘ies’ to the original form of the verb.
I You We They	Use the original form of the verb.

1. To show general truths and facts

•    Add 's' to the original form of the verb

                              The moon shines at night.
                                     shine  ---> shines
                             
                              The earth moves around the sun.
                                     move  ---> moves

2. A habitual action or an action that is done often

•    Add 's' to the original form of the verb

                              He walks to school every morning
                                     walk  ---> walks

                              Mr Tan sells fruit and drink every evening.
                                     sell   ---> sells

•    Add 'ies' to the original form of the verb when the verb ends with a 'y'

                              Mary studies hard every night so that she can pass her exam.
                                      study ---> studies

•    Add 'es' to the original form of the original form of the verb when the verb ends with 
•    's', 'sh', 'ch' and 'o'

                              Jason watches television every night.

                                       watch ---> watches

 

                              Mr Kumar washes his car every weekend.

                                        wash ---> washes

                              Ali crosses that road to school every morning.

                                        cross  ---> crosses

                              Mrs Sarah goes to supermarket every morning.

                                         go ---> goes

Examples of the personal pronouns 'I', 'You', 'We' and 'They'. The verbs remain in the original form.

                               We eat dinner at 7pm every evening.

                                         eat ---> eat

 

                                I walk to bus stop every morning.

                                         walk ---> walk

                                They drink apple juice every morning.

                                         drink ---> drink
